K2 Gym
I would like to use my Canon Rebel K2 indoors tomorrow at a cheerleading compititon?

Is there a perticular setting I would use. It is indoors and at a gym. I have 200 speed film. I was hoping my DSLR would be in from ordering but it isn advice, techniques anything would be helpfult. SO any advice would be good. I just do not want it to look grainy.

Think of what the size of prints you will be getting. 8x10"? 5x7"? 16x20"? 400 film is pretty fine grained nowadays and if you are making prints about 4x6 or smaller, even 1600 film is better than blurry shots.

Techniques: Prefocus on spots where the cheerleaders will be doing their routines such as pyramids and line ups. Don't waste too much time trying to capture tumbling or jumping routines, you will get nothing but blur.

Shoot aperture priority with the aperture setting as wide as possible and then let the speed fall where it can. If you can spot meter on a cheerleader rather than average over the entire area, you will probably get better shots. A dark or black background will render overexposed people and a gray background unless you spot meter or pre-meter on skin tones with the existing light.

Over all things try to get some 400 film at least. I would also mix in at least a roll of 1000 or 1600 film if at all possible. That way, you may at least salvage some good grainy shots rather than a bunch of blurred fine grained photos.

We appreciate you looking at our K2 Gym information.
