Will doing weighted push-ups increase my bench press?
I'm sick of using just the bar (45 lbs, almost half of body weight) in gym class.
I put 15 lbs in a backpack right now
That's not the proper way to increase the weight on a push-up LOL. There are two ways to do that if you can't get extra weights on the bar. Both will seem rather homo, but you'll see in a moment
One guy gets in the push-up position on the ground, arms fully extended (the up position). Another guy gets in the same up position, but on the first guy's shoulders or back. Now, depending on just HOW strong you really are, one guy will do pushups. If the guy on top (yeah yeah laugh) does pushups, then you'll have to hold up his weight + the extra weight of going down. But if you can do pushups on bottom...well then that's pretty incredible. You're doing around 40% of your bodyweight then, plus whatever the other guy on top weighs.
