training to run one single mile..?
Yeah i know, one single mile isn't a triathlon but hey. hopefully theirs more helpful people then assholes on Y!/A. Anyways by April we have to run the state fitness mile. And holy shit that minimum time is really low. How can i start training with a tight schedule. i cant do any, "outside activities" because. I have astronomy school, bio chem homework, and grocery shopping. Is there any "home workouts" i can do to build stamina. I'm not the fittest person in the world. And in conclusion i have asthma.
What is your goal? To meet the State average or just to 'Do your Best'? What's the minimum time?
How old you are?
What school-grade you're in?
We are in October 2009, you're gonna do this Fitness mile in April 2010? That's 6 months from now so you have lots of time to train.
If you could provide this info, then we can find the State Fitness results per age and per school so that you can meet or beat the average posted times.
I have found some average times :
AGE Average (One) 1 Mile Time per Minute range:
10 11:30 - 9:00
11 11:00 - 8:30
12 10:30 - 8:00
13 10:00 - 7:30
14 9:30 - 7:00
15 9:00 - 7:00
16 8:30 - 7:00
It seems you have painted a tough schedule so unless you put in the time to train you won't get the desired results.
Remember to always stretch before you begin to jog/run; and hydrate throughout the day before you run. Here are some ideas that you can try (Use a stopwatch to track your time):
You can jog on your home treadmil if you have one.
You can drive your car around your neighborhood to see how far you would have to run to equal 1 mile; then run this course in the morning or the evening when you have time.
If you live near, go to your local High School and run the track (4 x's around is equal to 1 mile).
If you live near a neighborhood park, jog around the park the same amount of time it takes you to jog a mile on a treadmil or the amount of time it take to jog a mile at your High School track.
Jump rope at home for the same amount of time it takes you to jog a mile around a track course.
