Do you need to be a member of a gym to get a whole body workout with every muscle?

Hi, i was just wandering whether with just barbells and dumbells one can successfully build bigger and stronger muscles at home. Also what are good exercises one can do at home which promote toning, buildng and strength increase of other muscles like the back, shoulders, abs? What exercises can be done at home which work effectively for all the mentioned above muscles? Is it even possible for these to be done at home or do you, to fulfill the full potential of your muscles need to join a gym and use their equipment such as leg press machines, incline machines, deadlift machines etc? Please advise. I am seriously considering getting bigger and stronger throughout 2007. I am not overweight, on the contrary i am very slender and would like to get big defined and strong muscles as i am bored of looking skinny. Dave, UK
