Weight loss and muscle building?
Hey everyone, I am just wondering how long it will take to see some results, mainly the loss of my belly fat, doing the following program based on my body data:
105kg or 220 pounds
6ft or 183cm
Body mass index of 29.9
Have a slight belly which sticks out about 1.5 inches from my belt line but doesn't hang over or anything.
This is what I have started to do:
1hr fast paced walk session through hilly streets 2-3 times per week.
1hr weight lifting gym session 1 per week. Lifting 20-25kg at the moment with 3 sets of 8 reps on many different workout machines including a stomach cruncher.
Bicep and shoulder excerices with 10kg max per arm dumbell set 20 minutes 2 times per week at home.
I would do more but I commute 4 hrs a day to and from work so I'm already short on time.
So in consideration of all this, how long do you estimate before I get bigger shoulders, arms and lose this belly?

Well, first of all. While lifting and doing cardio excersize is very important to having a better body, equally if not more important is what you're eating and how much of it.
To lose weight you need to eat less than you burn off, and you need to eat healthy foods.
It's not likely that you will be able to increase muscle mass and lose fat at the same time, unless you are VERY new to training.
Start out by writing down everything you eat for a week and counting up how many calories is in it all.
Lower the calories by 500, and spread your meals throughout the day so you're eating 6 times a day with smaller meals(about every 3 hours) Make sure you eat lean protein with each of these meals(chicken, fish, non-fat dairy etc.)
I would say that's a good starting point for lifting and cardio, and it will work, but not without a calorie deficit. Also, you will have to work out more than that eventually if you want to be completely rid of the belly.
