Surf board weight how to pick out the right one?
I'am just loking at funboards/surf board prices and i know that it goes by weight for the boards i lloked it up on a surfboard site and i came out to be:
7'5 classic Width 21.5/2.8 for thickness, and for a funboard it was wid 22.0/3.1 thick it was for weight ranges 100-180lbs for both.
was just woundering if that was correct or i should investigate more with the issue of find the correct board for myself?
Boards aren't really picked for weight except when considering how much float you need. A funboard at 7'5" should be good for someone between 5' and 5'8" or so without any real concern about float unless the person is particularly heavy.
The thickness of the core just adds a little bit of float and some strength to the board. In your example the 22 inch board with 3 inch thickness will provide more reliable float for the 180 pound surfer than the 21.5 inch board with 2.8 inch thickness. It won't be a really obvious difference but there will be some.
Get whichever board you like better, the feel of it, the look of it, etcetera because in the end the float won't make that much difference for you.
