Why won't the bleach continue to lift color?
My teal underlayers are crap.
The hair that I bleached near my roots are white (about an inch. The turquoise came out great for that part) but the rest of my hair is a mix of golden yellow and dirty blonde. I left in the 30 Vol. Manic Panic dye for about 2 hours and all it's done is bleach out the ugly green color that was a result of Atomic Turquoise and brownish hair. The dirty blonde is still there.
I waited a day before rebleaching. What am I doing wrong? And what color should I dye over it to make it look good? I don't want pink nor purple for my underlayers especially when an inch of my hair is already turquoise.
I have Punky Color Apple Green. if I can't bleach it for a few days, could I dye it green instead and still have it come out looking alright?
Who has dyed light brown hair green before?
I'm so frustrated!
Here's what it looks like now (excuse the funny face):

It looks like crap.
The reason your hair at your scalp is white is because of your body heat. Hair about an inch from your scalp always lifts faster because of that heat. Now the rest of your hair to about one to two inches from the end is called the midshaft. This is the hardest part of your hair to lift. There is no body heat to aid in the lifting and it is older hair so it has more stuff on it than your outgrowth. The ends of your hair is the most porus part of your hair so weird stuff can happen to them. They could turn lighter or not lift at all or even break off. Your first mistake was doing this yourself. Anytime you are lightening your hair you should always let a professional do it. (That way if they screw up they have to fix it!) They have the knowledge to do this kind of stuff. While this can be costly and you still want to do it at home, go to sally beauty supply and get 40 vol. When you mix the bleach(get it there too, I like basic white) according to the instructions double the amount of 40 volume that it calls for. DO NOT PUT THIS ON YOUR SCALP!!! Start about 1 and a half inches down. Put a plastic cap (shower cap) over your hair and apply heat. (use a blowdryer every 5 mins or so to keep it warm and wrap a towel around your head to keep it in.) When it gets to the lightness you want then rinse. Before you put the color on though buy a protein based product (like Redken Antisnap) or get a protein treatment and use it before you color. Keep using a protein based product so that your hair doen't fall out or break off. Remember that whenever you bleach or color your hair you are stripping protein out( hair is made up of moisture and protein) so you need to put this back in to make your hair stronger so it doesn't break off. I really hope you haven't fried your hair but if you have there is stuff out there that will help you. Hope this helps!
