I'm a little sad: I worked really hard to lose weight and now a couple of friends have ditched me. Why?
One made it clear that she is struggling with it because she is pregnant, but it bothers me because I have been happy for them through all of their successes, and now that I have a success they aren't happy for me. Even when they have made me jealous, I never let it show because I know it would have been selfish of me. But they are not returning the favor, and have since held back congratulatory comments (I lost a substantial amount of weight and am now celebrating things I couldn't do before - like wear a normal belt, and find the courage to wear skirts and shorts). I'm happy with my success and happy to be at a healthy weight, but I'm sad that my support group scattered as a result of it. Anyone else have this happen?
I haven't changed. I've been the same old me. I hardley get to talk when they do come around - they usually dominate the conversation.
I can't speak from experience, but any friends who aren't willing to set themselves aside to celebrate your change, are not worth your friendship. Find people who are self-confident and are supportive of your newfound confidence. People like that will just bring you down and put you into the posiiton you were at before!
