how to be the best wide receiver i can be?
ok so i have made the decision do tryout for football in highschool (freshman), im 13, ive never played competition football, but i have played many times at football camps and unofficial games.
im 5'4, 110 pounds, and pretty quick, i want to be a wide receiver on the fact that im quick and i am pretty small, so i wouldnt do well in many other places. i have 4 months to do all i can do to make myself ready for football, i am going to the gym and running/walking 20 minutes a day and working all parts of my body with push ups, lat pull downs, sit ups, deep squat thrusts, jumping jacks and back hyperextensions. for 45 minutes total. what do you think i can do make myself the best wide receiver i can be in 4 months?
OK. First, you need to think about the Wide Receiver essentials. Ex: Speed, hands, agility, and..... well there's not really anything else. I definitly recommend getting some ankle weights at Sports Authority or your local sporting goods store. Strap these on and run on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes a day, and even after only 2 weeks you will start seeing improvements in your 40 yard dash time. You should probably get your 40 time to around a 4,8-4,7 Honestly, all those excercises aren't as important as going and getting your, dad, brother, or a friend to go throw the football to you. Trust me, in tryouts, if you drop even 1 ball, the coach is going to second guess putting you on the team. This may sound weird but maybe even try yoga once a week. It drastically improves your flexibility and agility, but if thats not your thing, then that's fine too. So overall, the most important thing is to work extremely hard and never, ever give up
