What can I do to fix my Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens?!?
I bought my Canon XSI two months ago and the kit lens with it. Today my camera fell of a 2 foot bench and the lens was the first thing to hit the ground. The top part was chipped but didn't make a difference. Then i realized that neither the auto focus or manual focus were working! The lens was stuck! I switched to manual focus and it was also stuck like the auto focus. I tried to turn the focus ring with force and it worked, it was focusing manually but not automatically. when i tried to focus with AF it would make the sounds it used to make when it focused but the ring would not turn! Will i be able to fix it alone, do i need professional help or should i trow it out and buy a new one?

This lens costs about 150$ new. Repairing it could be even more. Plus, this is not an optically great lens (good for a beginner though!) so I recommend you to buy a new one, or a used, cheaper one.
