I need to train for pure strength, need some advice/criticism?
Hello, I have been lifting weights for awhile and I just needed to make sure my routine is pretty good. I do 4 exercises per muscle for example, when I work out my chest I do Bench Press, Decline Bench Press, Incline Bench Press, and Dumbell Flys. And I do 3 sets with usually 4-6 reps with very heavy weight. (Should I be doing that if I want to just work out to be stronger, I dont care about cuts, or being bulky, I am planing to be a cop, and I need to be strong.) Also here is my routine...Monday I usually do Biceps/Back/Legs Tuesday Shoulders/Triceps/Chest Wednesday Off, then I just cycle that again for the remaining days. Also I work on my forearms and grip strength when I have time. Am I doing this stuff right? Any advice...Also I am not doing any cardio I am 6 foot and I weight 190...I used to weight 260, but lost the weight. Thanks for the advice.
You're doing everything right apart from cardio, which is really another important thing for a cop - how are you going to chase down that guy and beat him up?
Secondly, your overall fitness (ie your heart at resting rate, your breathing at resting rate) will be significantly lower, Ultimately lowering your performance in excercise and on the streets.
You really need to do cardio and then your routine is PERFECT...
Your cardio does not have to be excessive;
20 mins for a 2km run or slightly less is acceptable every day. Or alternatively, increase the speed you cycle to get your heart rate and breathing up for 20 mins minimum.
