2008 V6 AWD SEL Ford Fusion seems slow and underpowered?
I keep reading reviews how people say the v6 ford fusion has good power. I have one and think my old 1.8L 4 cyl Escort gt felt like it had more power. Taking off from 0 it works fine, but if you get up to 50 and then let off the gas and slow to 40 the car doesnt want to accelerate again up to 50. The only way to get it to accelerate is to push down on the gas hard enough to make it down shift. I get pissed and I'll just hold it to the floor and make it down shift like 3 gears until I get back up to 50. The 10,000 lb work truck I drive doesnt even need to downshift like this car. My past cars have all been a V-8, but they all weighed alot more. Am I just expecting too much from a V-6? Is it because its a 6 speed trans? I'm glad this one is just a lease. I thought the shift points were just wrong, but the dealer said they were not adjustable. The trans learns when to shift by how the owner drives. Any thoughts or does anyone have a v6 fusion?
This car is programmed for MPG's - when it gets into high gear and the converter locks up, it just wants to stay there because that's simply the most efficient mode for maximum MPG's.
If the concern seems unacceptable, I would recommend going back to the dealer and driving another AWD Fusion with the same engine and transmission to see if this is completely normal or if yours has a concern.
