I need a new tricep regiment, any ideas are welcome. My objective is for strength not toning fyi....?
What I currently do:
Close Grip Bench: 10 reps, 8 reps, 8 reps, 6 reps
Dips: 15 reps, 10 reps (w/ 15 lbs), 8 reps (w/25 lbs), 8 reps (w/ 35lbs), 6 reps (w/ 45lbs)
Skull Crushers with barbell: 15 reps, 10 reps, then 8 reps, then 6 reps
Pushdowns: 10, 8, 8, 6, reps
I think I have plateaued, I need a new regiment to fix this stall im at.
In my opinion your using pretty solid compund exercises for your tri's which is so far so good.What you are doing though is more of a body building style lifting regimen. If your goal is strength than you should do what the real strong guys do ,which is powerlifting cycles.Cut the reps down drastically. Look up a good powerlifting cycle.Also you can do your dips on gymnastics rings or find the deepest position you feel comfortable in and then set something under your feet so you'll stop the range of motion. After a complete stop, deadstart th dip from a bottom position. the only exercise that in my opinion needs to go is the push down. the first three should hit the tri's plenty especially if your doing other overhead or bench presses. Hit you arms hard and heavy and you should see some results. for strength CYCLE. For mass just sling heavy ass iron, eat ,and sleep.
