Disney in October- weather/crowds?
My husband and I are heading down to Disney from 5 - 8 October for our 2nd wedding anniversary. What's the weather like that time of year. Should we be packing shorts and tees or jeans and a rain coat? When my sister was there in Oct a couple years ago she said it was really buggy. Also anyone have any insite to how crowded it will be? My husband says it won't be very crowded since it's the "off season" and it'll be cool since it's the fall. I call BS. I was told the exact same thing in early March and it was crowded as heck and really hot. Any insight would be helpful. I'm trying- key word trying- now to over pack.
We've been to WDW 13 times; a couple of times in October. You've gotten some good advice so far. I've included a weather website we like to use. You may encounter some crowds from England. The kids have a break from school then. You just have to work around it. Use Fast Passes (free) for rides. If you are staying on site they have Extra Magic Hours, where guests can ge in certain parks early or stay later on certain days. We have found it better to stay away from the parks with the early openings, because they tend to get crowded. We do like to stay late though, because the crowds thin out. I hope you've made dinner reservations, because they fill up fast. If you haven't you can try, in hopes they has been a cancellation. For your anniversary O'Hana (Polynesian Resort) would be very romantic. You can see & hear the Wishes Fireworks & see the electric light parade on the water (check Disney website for fireworks schedule). The Coral Reef (Epcot) is lovely & you could go see Illuminations afterwards. San Angel Inn (Epcot-Mexico), Restaurant Marrakesh (Epcot-Morocco), California Grill (Contemporary Resort-can see fireworks here too), Jiko's (Animal Kingdom Lodge) are also great options. If you are using Disney transportation, allow extra time if you are dining at a resort, since you'll need to go to the Transportation & Ticket Center to change buses. I've included the Disney Florist website too. You could call & have a gift basket waiting in the room as an anniversay surprise. It doesn't have to be real expensive. They let you mix & match from the other baskets. I think matching his & hers embriodered towels would be a nice remembrance. Don't forget to go to guest relations in any of the parks to get your free annivesary buttons. If you are staying on site you could call ahead & ask them to have the buttons waiting for you in the room. Don't forget sunscreen & light rain jackets. I know what you mean about overpacking. I'm the "Queen of Overpacking". Nowadays they charge you for everything though, so I'm getting better. Have a great anniversary celebration!!!
