What weight bowling ball should I get?
I am getting back into bowling after many years. My 16 lb. bothers my wrist badly and I need to drop down to a lower weight. I throw a pretty significant hook. What is the lowest weight I should go and still get good drive through the pocket?

After a short layoff, and a rotator cuff tear, I went through the same reduction in equipment weight from 16 to 14 lb. I also had a hook that travelled over 15-20 boards and although I'm delivering it straighter now, I have no loss of pin action and do not leave solid corner pins as often with 14 lbs.
All I do is make sure my hand is beneath the ball and driving through when releasing it. That reduces spin and makes for a consistent roll when approaching the 1-3 pocket. Only thing is that you practice in order to strengthen your wrist or you can wear a bowling glove under a wrister glove to provide additional support. I'm nearly back to the performance and average I had when bowling professionally back in the day.
Since I started bowling, I utilized Brunswick/Quantum/Revolution/Elite products (all are manufactured by Brunswick) so that I got familiar with reactions of their equipment. I'm still using that product because my game may get thrown off trying to learn how other manufacturers' equipment performs. Try using the same equipment you used back then, and ask your pro shop if there are bowling balls similar to what you threw before you stopped.
