Should I get a Free MBA?
I am just out of college and have been offered a job at another college to be a secretary. Not the greatest pay (12/hr) but full benefits as well as free tuition. Having this job, I could get my MBA in 2 year for the cost of only the textbooks. Now, the college isn't exactly a top-tier school but it is a solid school. I do not have any big financial obligations and am single. Do you think it might be worth it?
If you go through with it -- yes, it can only be a plus.
When I was out of college I had a job with NYU School of Business down at Wall St. I was offered the same opportunity - lousy pay, $4 a credit (to cover administration cost - and I wonder what that is today). I didn't have the discipline to go for it - and found working in admissions -- I didn't want to be with "those" people.
I can look back without regrets -- but I can wonder with a smile what I would be doing today if I had an MBA.
Good luck - you sound like you have the energy to go for it - and won't mind the lousy pay to get it! BTW - the pay is a lot better today - my day it was $5 an hour - and believe it or not that was above minimum wage... (And when I got the raise to $5.50 an hour - I took home less per week because of tax increases...)
