Can I use the Haan steam mop on foam flooring like in a gym?
I want to get the padded flooring for my newly walking son so if he falls it wont be on the tiles. Can I use the steam mop on it? Will it, melt or emit bad plastic chemicals? Here is the floor if you need to know more about it ~ http://cgi.ebay.com/50-SQ-FT-FOAM-INTERLOCKING-TILE-GYM-FLOOR-PUZZLE-MAT_W0QQitemZ290356056390QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439a91d146
If this is the stuff that I think it is, it should be fine with the steam mop. Just don't leave the head in one place for a long time or it might melt. Better yet, try it on a spare piece or on the back of one of the pieces first. Yes, steam gets hot but not hot enough to melt anything if it's not exposed for a long period of time. Sam's Club has a system that looks very similar and that stuff is really dense. And your product specs state that it is waterproof, so you're good there.
Personally, I think steam is a wonderful way to clean. I certainly wouldn't spray lysol around and call that clean. At the bare minimum, I'd mop it with white vinegar and water with a microfiber cloth. Microfiber cloths get in the little nooks and crannies better than anything else. The little guy would get his hands in all that lysol spray build up and the hand go in the mouth and he's getting a lot of chemicals.
